Talk about a truly moving and spiritual surprise!
PROOF is definitely one band that truly "gets" us and always has from the beginning. Coming from Hickory, NC. they first played here back in 2008, they totally shared my vision and could see The Ultimate Basement for what it truly was. They dedicated one of their songs to me that night entitled "SHELTER". They made a HUGE impact with the kids who had come to see the show!
Their next show, they brought another house favorite, Sword And Shield! The crowd was excited!
...and then we were confused... PROOF brought with them an artist!
I was told that his mission was to paint "the mood of the room as the concert went on"
................................ooooooooooooooooooooooook?
Well, by golly, thats what he did!
After the concert, I was surprised when I was asked to join them onstage. I was presented the painting and was then told that I was welcome to sell it to raise funds to keep this place going...
Riiiiiiiiight!!! I was so honored, humbled and touched... this place could burn down and Ill bet I will be carrying this painting when I get out!
Below is the picture and some notes regarding the symbolism as explained to me by the artist...
Lightning = The power of Christ
The cross is made from the nails driven into Jesus
Hanging from the cross is the crown of thorns
The red, white etc = The fog of evil with the cross emerging
Even the artist did not know what he painted here on the right side..
We prefer to call it the stairway to Heaven
